Tea Time Love - Ritz Carlton, Tokyo

I adore a good Afternoon Tea. The English tradition isn't huge where I live, so I seek out Afternoon Tea options whenever I travel. The Ritz Carlton Tokyo's tea service came highly recommended, so I made reservations and happily sauntered over for a scone or two.

Located near the Roppongi area, the Ritz Carlton was pretty easy to get to. I did have a bit of a walk, but that was because I initially went to the wrong subway stop.

Like most of the Afternoon Teas in Tokyo, reservations were required. The tea area has lovely views of the city, so if you plan to visit request a window seat - I sadly, did not. But, I got to enjoy live music and the amazing ambiance, so I was not mad in the slightest.

The tea service started with the Ritz Carlton Tokyo house blend, which had a rich flavor and chocolate undertones. Twas very good. And, in addition to the usual clotted cream, there was a choice of jams and snacks. I chose the yuzu marmalade which was AMAZING and chocolates.

The savory dishes were lovely. I didn't try them all since I only eat seafood, but the ones that I did try were very flavorful and delicate. The crab dish was my favorite.

The menu does change often so ask for a current one ahead of time if you want to get an idea of what you will be having.

As much as I loved the savory fare, the sweets and pastries were the stars of this Afternoon Tea - like many other places that I tried. Strawberry season was still in full swing, and the desserts were inspired by the abundance of the berry.

The scones were also very light and flaky and paired perfectly with the amazing yuzu marmalade. (If I could I would but that marmalade on everything....EVERYTHING.)

The Ritz Carlton Afternoon Tea was delightful! But, I truly loved all of my Afternoon Tea experiences in Tokyo. The service was lovely no matter the price or location, and it always felt special. I may have lucked out, but Tokyo is one of my favorite places as a tea lover.
