BJC Announces New Date

Several days after announcing an exciting Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival lineup, featuring Soca & Reggae legends Machal Montano, Bunji Garland, and Beres Hammond, the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival committee has announced that the event has been postponed from May 4-6 until May 18-20, 2017.

In a statement issued on the organizer's Facebook page, they noted "In light of the upcoming general election timetable, the Commission has made the unavoidable decision to change the dates of the 2017 Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival to May 18-20. We don’t want to be competing for talent, venue space, security services and other essential services with the many rallies and political events that will be going on. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to your continued support as we advance plans to make Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival 2017 a success."

The event, which would have originally coincided with the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup event, was changed very unexpectedly. To date, there is no additional information available regarding if the lineup will remain the same.
