Best of 2015 ~ Movies ~ Creed

PinkSands242 highlights some of our favorite things in 2015. At the top of our list in film, is Creed.

Creed has only been out for a few weeks, but the film had everything that makes a film great - heart, great story telling, excellent acting, and a wonderful script.

Creed, which was released on November 25, 2015, stars Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed, son of the late, great Apollo Creed that previously passed away in the Rocky franchise, and Sylvester Stallone as the iconic Rocky Balboa.

I admit that I wasn’t well versed in the Rocky universe, and had only given the previous movies cursory glances as a young girl. I also didn’t watch the more recent Rocky Balboa movie, so I went into Creed half expecting clichés and some great show of over-the-top, machismo, showboating.

What I got was a story that felt authentic and real. The film excelled as a stand-alone entity and didn’t require any previous knowledge about the Rocky movies to pull viewers in. I cared about Adonis’ journey and his relationship with the, now retired, Rocky. I also appreciated that the movie didn’t try to paint either character as some kind of super hero and highlighted their flaws in an endearing way.

I could go on and on about how much I loved this move, but this is not a review. I will say that Creed it definitely worth the watch and tops my list of best in class for 2015.

Hold On Wait A Minute! Creed Is Loyal

Creed was the only thing showing Meek Mill any smidgen of respect in 2015. The movie showed the Philadelphia rapper’s music a lot of love as it played in the background, and I can get behind that. Before Meek flexed his Twitter fingers and got into a verbal scuffle with Mr. Aubrey Drake Graham, he was a respected wordsmith. Meek will always have Dreams and Nightmares, Heaven or Hell and House Party, and Creed made me want to believe that Meek had his own world tour.

The A List

Selma

Mad Max: Fury Road

Jurassic World

Inside Out

Kingsman: The Secret Service

Ex Machina

Dope
